So far as I can find on the intertubes no one in the left is calling for any more stimulus packages of the COVID varieties. The BBB is being discussed by some pundits as stimulus, but a lot of its components are also focused on previously neglected spending categories.
As I have noted previously, the Biden Administration has been doing a lot of good economic things, including presiding over this trend - which started in late 2020 under Mr. Trump:
Employers added a record 6.6 million jobs during Joe Biden's first 12 months in office, by far the strongest record of any president's first year in office.
The unexpected strength of the January jobs report — along with some revisions in readings for November and December — pushed Biden over the 6 million mark. But he could have claimed that distinction even without them. The previous record holder was Jimmy Carter, who saw a gain of 3.9 million jobs in his first 12 months in office.
By comparison, Donald Trump's first 12 months in office notched a gain of 2 million jobs.
The jobs numbers from the Labor Department go back to 1939, when Franklin Roosevelt was in his seventh year in office. No president other than Carter has enjoyed even half as many jobs being added during their first year as Biden's record: No. 3 Bill Clinton posted an addition of 2.8 million jobs.
The legislation put forward by House Democrats -- called the America COMPETES Act of 2022 -- addresses pressing economic issues facing the Biden administration, including supply chain disruptions and a global shortage of semiconductor chips, which are essential for the production of smartphones, medical equipment and cars. Additionally, the bill calls for a number of changes to US trade rules, aiming to level the playing field for American businesses and combat China's market-distorting trade practices.
It’s hard for me to see how at some point the fed doesn’t raise interest.
Like this?
The Federal Reserve is taking off the gloves in its bid to fight a historic surge in inflation.
The Fed held its key interest rate near zero Wednesday but said it will “soon be appropriate” to raise it, hinting that a rate hike in March is all but certain. The increase would be the first in more than three years and kick off what’s likely to be a flurry of three or more quarter-point increases this year aimed at reining in sharply rising consumer prices.
I'll grant that Republicans manage to hide their spending and printing better then Democrats, but it doesn't free them from that millstone. Look, for instance, at all the Republicans who are crowing about the Infrastructure Bill funds now coming to their states - after voting against those very dollars. There's good campaign ad fodder there. Plus, Republicans had no problems printing stimulus money under Mr. Trump . . . .
I think its about how you look at it. The membership in unions across the economy has been cut in half since 1983 - which is the first year that reliable statistics started to be kept. at rough 11% of the workforce, its arguable that unions no longer have the economic influence they once did.
In 2021, 15.8 million wage and salary workers were represented by a union, 137,000 less than in 2020. The percentage of workers represented by a union was 11.6 percent, down by 0.5 percentage point from 2020 but the same as in 2019.
There is not going to be a single off ramp. There will be 50 off ramps. And many , many states are as off ramped as can be. Mostly red states. Mine sure is.
And frankly if you are going to expect us to sort the information for ourselves, then expect us to make a bunch of widely diverging decisions.
THE JOE ROGAN EXPERIENCE: Joe Rogan’s listeners are largely representative of the majority of podcast listenership, but his popularity blows away the competition.
According to our survey respondent demos, Joe’s listenership is 71% male and evenly split between high school and post-secondary graduates. Fifty seven percent of his audience reports earning over $50k per year, with 19% making over $100k. The average age of his listeners was 24.
Who do you trust to deliver information that vaccines work and that the unvaccinated are X times more likely to get COIVD and Y times more likely to die from COVID are not "differences of opinion" or dissenting views. That the efficacy of cloth masks is better then nothing but not as effective as N-95 respirators is no a matter of dissenting opinions. That Trump spent a Billion Tax payer dollars to get COVID vaccines developed - which you have taken - and then convinced his base NOT to take because he wasn't in power is not a matter of dissenting opinion.
You purport to believe these things are not verifiable facts that can be falsified, and therefore should be subject to wide latitude since their opposites are not - according to you - falsifiable information.
No one at Biden rallies was calling for the press to be locked up. Neither has the President. Nor is he or his supporters calling for, cheering on or aiding or abetting actual assaults on reporters.
come to Mississippi. Its a Red state. You and I would be in the minority as far as vaccinations and boosters and mask use are concerned.
And people are getting sick in droves, and have died in droves. Because they don't believe what you believe because they have listened to Trump and Rogan and the lot.
Hey remember when Trump cheered crowd members who beat up reporters at his rallies, called for reporters he didn't like to be jailed and was wildly applauded for it?
You really need to learn to write a lot more clearly - it would make conversing with you much easier. Because that exchange suggested that it was pointless to capture and much less try someone 20 years later.
So here's an example form me to you:
I don't believe the state should kill people unless engaging in a declared war.
I believe strongly in capturing them, trying them publicly (one of the many reasons I detest Gitmo), and then locking them away for the rest of their lives to rot if the charge warrants. Turning Eichmann into a pitiful old hobbled man for his crimes would have been excellent punishment and been a greater service of justice. Killing him was simple revenge.
