The preliminary deal includes wage increases for both full- and part-time workers.

Can't say, as I said, the subject matter really doesn't hold any interest with me. But at 145M to make the movie, I'll be interested in it's take.

"

Frankly, I watched this review, looked at the images, and thought: NOPE NOPE. 1) it's just too plastic looking 2) Don't care about Barbie AT ALL, 3) Well, this review. YMMV

You're speculating that the self identified conservatives on this site drink bud lite and participated in the boycott. I'm not. The only way to really know is to poll bud light drinkers.

"

If Bud Lite was smart, they did that research and know. I didn't and don't.

"

"But conservatives refused to be part of any audience which includes trans people."

Actually, the most logical conclusion is "bud lite drinkers refused to be a part of a audience that included trans people" hence their not purchasing as much of that beer. There are several reasons why both "regular" bud lite drinkers and trans folk might object to being stuck together marketing wise.....

On “The $800K McNugget: A Legal Discussion

I had a coworker go off for jury duty once. It was a case similar to this. She said that when the jury got the case and began deliberations, everyone else had already decided the defendant was guilty and they were talking about how much to award for damages.....you know, without actually deliberating.....

They didn't care about whether or not the defendant was really guilty....of course they were, they were sued. So, the only thing they needed to do was award as much as they could.

On “That’s Not How That Works: “The New Right’s Theory of Power”

A company like this, probably does that type of research periodically, and if their market share was changing, was ALREADY aware of the demographics of their market, and had provided that to "what's her face".

Then most folks haven't been paying attention to the news I guess. I'd have to spend some time, but I'm sure I could go back, at least to the 80s and provide examples of this being in the news. Now, my experience could be different. I only read a sunday newspaper for 20 years, and the WSJ daily for a decade, but I'd wager that any reasonably educated middle class person or higher has been exposed to this fact at least once in their life.

"

Well, when the law AFFIRMS, as it has countless times, they cops have no legal obligation to individuals, you are, as they say, on your own.

"but someone whose job it is to protect a brand should damn well think about the potential effect of her choices."

Exactly.

"Group Vice President of Marketing Daniel Blake and Bud Light Marketing Vice President Alissa Heinerscheid,"

Group VP and Marketing VP. These are not mid level positions--they are, in fact, quite senior. I'd expect that they have AT LEAST 20 years of experience and a resume full of significant achievements. That they were so tone deaf or didn't apparently understand their consumer is 1) stunning and 2) reeks of hubris.

"

The error wasn't in trying to expand the brand's base, it was they way in which they did it--alienating the existing customer base.

I took 1 marketing class in college decades ago. I'm, by appearance, similar in age to the woman in this video, and even I am not that stupid.

You do not piss off your existing customer base. You ensure you try and preserve it. Now, you can, at the margins, try to expand, but you expand into near/adjacent markets, not pull a marketing 180.

She screwed up and now she's gone. It's almost as if she didn't know what the market for your product was.

Key California Assembly committee blocks bill to make child trafficking a 'serious felony'

https://www.kcra.com/article/california-assembly-public-safety-committee-blocks-bill-child-trafficking/44510634#

"SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
California lawmakers in the Assembly Public Safety Committee on Tuesday blocked a measure that would have classified human trafficking of a minor as a serious felony under state law, an effort that attempted to keep repeat offenders behind bars and make them ineligible to be released from prison early."

On “The Disturbing New Labor Trend: Skilljacking

One of my previous employers (an operating company within a corporation) had a very clear chart showing you what you merit increase was going to be.

1) What was your pay against the market pay range for that job (Annual salary surveys were conducted). If you were below the Median, your pay increase was more than if you were above the median-under the concept that all employees should be at the mid point and if you were above, you should be working to get promoted to the next pay grade.
2) What was your performance rating vs others in your department.

You added both these factors and that was your pay increase. You literally could compute your pay increase in 15 seconds. EVERY manager showed the chart to the employee. There were only 3 other categories and they were for special skills, etc. that didn't amount to much more that .5% in total.

No one bitched about pay.

"

Well, I will say that I know personally some HR policies (from back in the day) where you'd get paid one salary for having a bachelors and more for a bachelors and a Masters. For those employees that were hired with a bachelors and got a masters on the the company dime, you did not get a pay increase. When I asked about they...claiming those folks would then leave to get more money, the response was, the company would not pay "twice"-for the masters and for the higher value. Turn over for this was considered cost of doing business.

Agreed. Given the number of emails I get in a day, and the number of mass meeting invites:
50 emails at least a day. 3-5 Non work related (meetings to talk about new products, explain products, talk about HR stuff, celebrate some company/corporate/international day, I mostly ignore email except from certain people. I have to sort through email every other day, since I'm copied on a while bunch of stuff.

I LITERALLY cannot focus given the number of emails coming in, so I ignore it....look at it first in the morning and a scan topic at the end of the day. Then I sped an hour each week filing it away after reading it.

Back during the covid, when we were all remote, people would email you to see if you could talk, via skype..vs in the office they'd just stop by. After my third call, when the 30 minute chat was 20 mins of bitching, I realized the amount of time wasted listening, to and bitching, to someone. God the hours lost when I was in the office. Now, at least, if I'm wasting time, it's only my time and I'm wasting it for what I want to waste it on....
