$41,000 dent repair on this Rivian?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKPfy5djvLc&ab_channel=MattBoyette

From an article linking to the YT vid:

"According to the man who performed unauthorized – but much cheaper – dent repair (the owner trucked the electric truck to another state to avoid having to spend $41,000 for the “authorized” repair) the Rivian EV is designed as a one-piece (or mostly one-piece) shell that is repaired by being replaced."

"The carapace must come off, which includes the glass and weatherstripping. Then a new carapace must be installed, along with the glass and weatherstripping, everything refinished to match. As you can imagine, this gets into money.

$41,000 to be precise."

Stunning. MSRP on a new Rivian, base model, is 73K That's 56% of the cost of a new one.

"College students are still basically teenagers who we consider adults legally." If your unable to "distinguish between arguing with a fine-point pen and a sledgehammer" then I submit to you that they should not be allowed to vote. As you said, "neither can many adults", but we're stuck with them. The college kids, yeah, we can exclude them.

2 Maybe there should be more consequences for saying stupid stuff on social media. This seems like a perfect example for learning.

Here's a though....delete your social media accounts or don't log into them...

"

I'm sure it has nothing to do with the US's situation Phillip.

"

I'm sure they will. In fact, Tesla's had similar problems. And this was a Chinese car, so their quality might be less than western cars too. Of course, during the whole Takata airbag recall, our gov't basically created a situations where you have to drive a vehicle that could kill you for "safety reasons", so you're basically on your own....

"

And it keeps getting better...

I was kidnapped by my runaway electric car: Terrified motorist, 53, reveals his new £30,000 MG ZS EV 'began driving itself' after suffering 'catastrophic malfunction' - forcing him to dial 999 and crash it into a police van to get it to stop

The new version of road rage:
"Furious EV owners resort to getting up in the middle of the night to charge their cars as fights break out over charging points because there aren't ENOUGH of them - with marshals brought in to police service stations"

"

That's nice. Now he should do it for 50 small retail stores and see how it compares.

"

I had to chuckle just a bit. It's kinda true.

"We put huge social pressure on her until she changed her mind" I hope that's a euphemism for "we told our daughter she could go to "a better named U" if she wanted to but we were not footing the bill since she got a full ride at "lesser U".

Thank you for saying what I was trying to say much more clearly :)

"

Oh, I agree. I think it's about time that the GOP table that stuff. It's a waste of time. If there was a smoking gun where the hell is it? But, again, that was never my point. Sure, I'm probably being pedantic....

"

Again, you're conflating a statement that "we have no evidence currently to say that he did it." with as a statement that "he didn't do it". I'd think English wouldn't be so hard to understand. You should know well "gov't speak" Phillip, aren't you a federal employee?

"

"What they’re saying is they can’t prove Biden committed any crime at all, let alone an impeachable offense." Agreed. That's exactly my point.

The conclusion was NOT, as Saul stated: "GOP star witness admits that Biden did not commit impeachable offenses." What the witness said was the evidence wasn't enough for an incitement. That is NOT a conclusion that "he didn't do it".

"

Actually no, that's not what it said:

"“I do not believe that the evidence currently meets the standard of a high crime and misdemeanor needed for an article of impeachment,” Turley said in written testimony submitted ahead of the hearing."

That's a long way from a legal conclusion that Biden didn't commit impeachable offenses.

"

Oh?

"SF considers bringing back 'patrol specials' from Gold Rush-era amid police shortage"
https://abc7news.com/san-francisco-police-department-patrol-specials-sf-crime-sfpd-staffing/13817155/

"SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Short hundreds of officers, San Francisco is now looking back to a Gold Rush-era idea for a possible staffing solution.

The police commission is hoping a new squad of officers will free up the police department to focus on more serious crimes."

"Crime in San Francisco is trending up. According to the latest city police data, robberies over the last 12 months are up 6% compared to the annual average over the last four years."

"Vehicle thefts are also up 19% compared to the yearly average. City officials are now getting creative, looking at the past to stop future crime, which is leading them to considering patrol specials."

May not be a hellhole everywhere....

On “The Marriage Privilege

Ok..caveat. All this happened in the late 90s. Ex and I got married. Since my family was a thousand miles south and couldn't fly well, and her's were local and couldn't fly, we eloped. Went to the Caribbean, got married on the beach. We were in our late 20s/early 30s. Wife had a dress made-cost 100 dollars. I bought a suit-200 dollars. Got married on the beach, honeymoon where we were. Total cost of wedding and honeymoon @ 3.5K. I lucked out on the ring because the wife was small and a small diamond looked YUGE on her finger. She didn't care about diamonds, we just ended up with one and some other stones on each side. No drama, no issues, had fun. Wedding took less time than the dozen or so pictures we had taken by the photographer, who's cost was included in the wedding. So, the current cost of that wedding was, say 6K.

Marry someone who doesn't want / care about the "princess wedding".

"

"According to the American Psychological Association, approximately 40-50% of first marriages end in divorce. The divorce rate for second marriages is even higher, with approximately 60-67% of second marriages ending in divorce. Jan 9, 2023"

Any male should look at those odds and ask himself "Why the hell would I want to get married?" Especially if kids are involved, which is kinda the whole point of marriage, or paring off, when the laws are anti husband. "Nearly 70 percent of divorces are initiated by the wife."

And let me be clear. My ex didn't screw me over. We didn't have kids. She wanted out and didn't care about my money. I consider myself lucky.

Well I consider myself "normal" and I've always rolled my eyes at signs like this. Same with those bumper stickers that say: "coexist" etc. It's just posturing. What matters is the DOING, and if you're doing, it doesn't matter that other people know you're doing. That is exactly why the whole sanctuary city designation, and the border towns shipping illegals to NYC and other places has resonance.

You'll get taxed. You are NOT a citizen, you cannot vote.

You want to come here presently? Demonstrate why we NEED you.

By my rough calc that 12 B dollars. It will likely take 125 Billion, so that's .1% is. Yeah, we're moving toward an all electric fleet at a speedy process.
