On “Vaccines Are A Billion Miracles

"Imagine they had been perfect and never made any mistakes, then what?"
First off, I don't believe this was a "mistake". I believe it was intentional, whether that intention stemmed from a desire to do good or not, is irrelevant. Again, there is documentation that people in the administration LIED. Intentionally. These are public servants. I expect public servants to be honest. If they had been honest, we might then not had employer mandated vaccination, or as long a shutdown as we did, or kids at home for so long. Thanks to this fiasco, everything that comes out of any administration is now suspect.

"

I get a yellow fever vaccine, I don't get yellow fever if exposed to the disease.
I get a Tetanus vaccine, I don't get tetanus if exposed to the disease.
I get a Covid vaccine, I can still get Covid.

Do we see the problem?

Vaccine: "a substance used to stimulate immunity to a particular infectious disease or pathogen"
Immunity: "a condition of being able to resist a particular disease especially through preventing development of a pathogenic microorganism or by counteracting the effects of its products"

You can argue all you want that a vaccine doesn't guarantee you won't get the disease, but that's not really the populace's view. The covid vaxs demonstrated that one group was playing fast and loose with the conventional understanding. If only they had been honest.

"What I’m trying to get at with Lee here is that I imagine he’d side with the teachers if they were advocating a different policy… one that he agreed with." Won't speak for him here, but I'm not advocating that.

"My two cents are that teachers should work within school/district/state policy within the walls of the building. If they want to advocate for changes in those areas outside of school, they ought to." 100% agree.

"If they are so moved to act within school because they feel policies are unjust, they should make that determination for themself and be prepared to accept the consequences." No, they should try to work it from outside, unless the teachers union is willing to get involved.

"

Count me in the group "simple public servants that need to stick to the plan". My tax money should not be supporting your advocacy. You do that on your own time.

Loved the comment "“My subscribers are mostly the kind of muddled liberals who boast about the moral superiority of their electric Hyundai, which was built with minerals mined by literal child slaves" I'm going to have to use that to anyone who bangs on my door wanting me to do something to "save the earth". Best part is HE'S NOT WRONG.

"ESPN was caught winning more than 30 Emmy Awards for individuals who are imaginary employees"

https://theathletic.com/5193316/2024/01/11/espn-emmys-fake-names-college-gameday/?source=emp_shared_article

Note paywall. You can read enough though. Imagine, after your company gives you the award, years later they call you and tell you to give it back. Christ, what a holes.

"

"You gonna pay attention?"
No. Those who align with said politician will not care. Oh, they may make a few noises, but they won't do much more. Not so the other side. They'll use it. Only a small minority group will see it for what it is, regardless of political side: rules for thee,, not for me. "Important" people get a pass.

On “From New York Magazine’s Intelligencer: Neri Oxman and Claudine Gay Cases Show We Need New Rules on Plagiarism

"That campaign was a right-wing hatchet job — and yet even hatchet-men sometimes say true things. Most of the allegations against Gay involved low-grade misconduct, like crediting sources but failing to put copied passages in quotes. In several instances though, Gay went further, reproducing more lengthy passages without any attribution at all."

If it was true, it's not a hatchet job. Hatchet job defined: "A hatchet job is an unfair attack on someone, especially a written attack" The MOTIVE for the investigation and the bringing to light the plagiarism might be by less than pure reasons, but the "crime" was committed.

I don't give a damn what color she is. She got caught doing what her employer specifically forbids...for the students, and the professors. There was evidence of this going back before she got the top job. NOTHING was done, and it was known/suspected for quite a while. She shouldn't have even made the short list if Harvard cared about plagiarism, but they ignored it.

This is the fundamental issue I have with "elites", of ANY form: Rules for thee, not for me.

On “Conservatives Should Know What They’re Conserving

There haven't been conservatives in Baltimore (of any magnitude) in decades, but sure, go ahead and blame them.

"

Baltimore city schools are totally f'ed up in many ways. I know of specific examples where they cant even pay the correct wage to their employees, and salary changes (which happen every year) take months to be reflected in payroll. Don't get me started on the Teacher's union either.

It's not an issue of funding, it's an issue of competence.

As long as you take Amber Heard for queen and rid us of her.

"

Nope, not news. I just like pointing out hypocrisy. It's one of my pet peeves, and everyone who does it should be hoisted on their own petard. This will be the new rule when I achieve overlord status of the world.

"

So, Harvard, knowing that Gay violated it's own policies on plagiarism, has her "making corrections". Again, rules for regular folks and different rules for "important" people.

"

Gee, it can't be used as a "weapon" if you didn't do it.

"

That's Harvard's definition too....in my link. But perhaps that only applies to students, not faulty.

"

So Harvard's findings are "unfounded"?
This is how Harvard DEFINES plagiarism.

"When you fail to cite your sources, or when you cite them inadequately, you are plagiarizing, which is taken extremely seriously at Harvard......

"If you copy bits and pieces from a source (or several sources), changing a few words here and there without either adequately paraphrasing or quoting directly, the result is mosaic plagiarism"

https://usingsources.fas.harvard.edu/sites/projects.iq.harvard.edu/files/sources/files/avoiding_plagiarism.pdf

"

Given the analysis I saw of her research, and the allegations of plagiarism, one wonders why she was even nominated.

Covid was a whole "shitshow" of messaging failures. Not to mention the out and out lies well documented, and the panic by the ruling class. Remember the ventilator fiascos? It demonstrated for me that most of them in the administration and bureaucracy were "faking it until they made it." and were likely not that qualified to actually do their jobs.

"

Vaccine: "a substance used to stimulate immunity to a particular infectious disease or pathogen, typically prepared from an inactivated or weakened form of the causative agent or from its constituents or products."

Immunity: "a condition of being able to resist a particular disease " Tell me how many people get tetanus after getting a a tetanus vaccine, or yellow fever. Reducing the likelihood ain't immune. Covid vaccines should never have been labeled vaccines, they aren't.

"

"and vaccinatable"

Not based upon folks telling me they've gotten covid, confirmed by testing, and are regularly vaxed for it.

An abused wife took on Tesla over tracking tech. She lost.
https://www.reuters.com/technology/an-abused-wife-took-tesla-over-tracking-tech-she-lost-2023-12-19/

"The San Francisco woman sued her husband in state Superior Court in 2020 on claims including assault and sexual battery. She later named Tesla as a defendant, accusing the automaker of negligence for continuing to provide the husband access to the car despite the restraining order against him. Her lawsuit sought monetary damages from Tesla."

"Tesla told the woman that it could not remove her husband’s access to the car’s technology because his name remained on the vehicle’s title as a co-owner, along with hers, according to records she filed in her lawsuit. Tesla prevailed in the lawsuit. After denying the San Francisco police request for evidence, the automaker argued she had no proof that her husband used the car’s features to stalk her. Tesla also argued the restraining order against the woman’s husband never specifically ordered the automaker to act."

"Over the next several months, the woman alleged, she regularly returned to the car to find that its settings and features appeared to have been manipulated. She found the doors open, the suspension settings changed, and the vehicle’s ability to charge turned off. When she asked service center employees for help, they tried to disconnect the car from the Internet, but those attempts failed, she said in court records."

Ah, a new form of stalking enabled by you EV.
