I’ve tried to play Assassin’s Creed IV a couple times, but for some reason, it has never held my attention for long. I am not sure what it is. It seems like a game I should like, but I don’t think I have ever played more than a few hours.

I am still playing Elden Ring. Last night, I got to the Festival at Redman Castle, but it was nearly time for bed, so I stopped. If I tried the Radahn fight, I probably would have stayed up too late trying to beat him. I decided to be responsible and get to sleep at a reasonable time, but I know what I will be doing tonight.

I also played some more Riven over the weekend. I have managed to reach some areas that I have not gotten to in previous playthroughs, and I have been through all of the islands (unless there is a secret island of some sort). I am still not sure exactly what I am trying to accomplish. I have stayed away from any hints so far.Report

The boats are *FUN*. Eventually you open up trading routes and these trading routes make you money. I did the thing where I woke up 15 minutes early to set up trade routes before I left for work, so when I got home, I could set up more trade routes before bed. And the sea shanties! It was even better than the radio in GTA3!

The Radahn fight is a corker. One of my faves. (We got to the final final boss in the expansion over the weekend and calibrated our stuff to better defend against his B.S. attacks. Didn’t help.)Report

I don’t really like the passive management elements that they started adding to the omnigenre games 10-15 years ago. They’re not really developed enough to be as much fun as a full strategy game would be, so they just end up feeling like a hassle. I don’t want to do chores in a game.Report
