Saturday Morning Gaming: The mind-bending puzzle game that is Patrick’s Parabox

As you know, Bob, I am a big fan of puzzle games. Whether they be the games like Portal where you’re practically playing a First Person Shooter to the old Popcap games to the old Lucas Arts games to, most recently, Patrick’s Parabox.

Holy cow, this game is amazing.

You are a box. With eyes. It is your job to push other boxes around. You cannot pull them. You cannot shift them. You can only push them. You need to push the eyeless boxes into the eyeless finishing space and then shift into your own, eyed, space. This solves the puzzle.

Here, let’s check out the first puzzle from the first puzzle of the first set of puzzles from the first tutorial level. Here’s how you start:

Let’s move around with the arrows and get that box from here… to there…

You follow? You have to push it down, then push it into the area where you can go around it, then push it to the area where you can go around it, then push it up, then over, then up, and then finish the level in your home box.

You dig?

Okay, after that, it begins to get a little complicated. There are boxes that you can not only move but, if you can’t move it, you go into. Observe:

See what I did there? I had to push the box into its place, then I used the tunnel in the box to get to my own place. See?

And, like, it’s possible to have boxes that you can put *OTHER* boxes into. Behold:

You get the idea? Do you see how you can move those boxes around and solve the puzzle?

Seriously. This game is FREAKING AMAZING.

I cannot recommend it enough. The only problem is that maybe people who don’t love puzzle games might not love it… but if you like puzzle games? Oh my gosh. This game will BLOW YOUR MIND.
