Here’s a question, was this particular style of serving eggs more a mid-century and/or NYC metro area thing? Because, growing up (circa 70’s & 80’s) my grandmothers would serve eggs this way often (complete with the special egg holder), and my mother would occasionally make them, but I swear I haven’t really seen this anywhere in the 21st century. (In fact, the egg holders were more commonly used as pill holders by the late 90s)
And to be fair, like the comic shows, it’s a big pain in the neck to get right, without shell or spilled egg going everywhere. So maybe it’s just me; since I do the cooking, I think it’s a big pain in the neck – so I don’t do it, and that’s why I never have it anymore.Report
