Count me 100% with Big Tent Democrat<\/a> on the proper role of politicians (Mayor Bloomberg obviously notwithstanding) with regard to the Cordoba Center, and on whether it’s actually important that politicians go on record as either “for” or “against”:<\/p>\n

Which helps explain why I was happy to see my governor – who I’m increasingly warming to – pretty much take exactly that stance<\/a>.\u00a0 August is always silly season in politics, but there’s absolutely no reason in the world that the Cordoba Center should be an issue in the Florida gubernatorial election<\/a>.\u00a0 The fact that it is should tell us all that this issue isn’t being driven by anything have remotely to do with policy or anything else of substance, but is instead just a cheap way of manufacturing political points without having to make any firm commitments on actual policy issues.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
