I watched a season of How I Met Your Mother (the 6th) and I’ve mostly been reading bits and pieces of art / photo books (tree houses, the design of the hobbit, etc).

I have this issue where all the books I reserved at the library came in at once. So now I have three weeks to read them and interprupt the Goldfinch.Report
I’ve been spending a lot of time in used bookstores (not by design, I just keep running across them), all of which have had Avram Davidson books I’ve never read. So, I’ll shortly be bingeing on his stuff.Report
King Crimson. Discipline.
Interesting.
Well, not really reading or watching it, but say . . . spending some intimate moments with it.
The tune “Discipline” is in 5/8, where the theme is based on arpeggiated figures of 2 then 3.
“Indiscipline” is 5/4, and the arpeggiated figures are 3 then 2.
Fripp is certainly a genius as a conceptual artist.
Reminds me a lot of Philip Glass, all in all. Maybe more like Eric Johnson does Glass.

I got through most of Season 2 of The Wire.
I am still reading through Book 4 of The Wheel of Time, and I have also gotten most of the way through Mike Carey’s Lucifer. I may finish the latter this week. I remembered it being a good series, but I think it is actually better than I remembered.Report
What are you thinking of Wire S2? I know a lot of people like it less because it moves away from the corners for a while, but I love it for how it widens the scope of the story and shows other parts of “the machine”.
And Lucifer, while it doesn’t have (to me) the same overall cohesive impact of its parent series (well, what does?), it has some individual moments that are maybe even more striking (plus, the artwork is more consistent).Report
I am enjoying it. Initially, I was a bit curious why they were going somewhere completely different at the beginning, but as it moves forward, it all connects back to the events from the first season. And I will not lie, getting an idea of how things work on a port is pretty interesting. It is one of those things that I had a vague awareness of, but this gives a better picture than I had before.Report
If HBO is telling the truth this time and this really is the final season of Eastbound & Down, they are going out on a high note. Maybe the best season they have done. Last night’s ep was some of the craziest TV I have ever seen.
What’s the consensus on this season of Homeland? I get the impression people aren’t liking it, but I am (mostly – I could do without the Dana stuff, even if it was fairly well-acted/realistic).Report
