One of the ironies of the 19th amendment is that is absolutely led the GOP dominance of the 1920s (until things well, fell apart) because of the vast majority of new voters were middle to upper class white women who were overall rather socially conservative. Working class white women – who were more often in the paid workforce in some capacity, didn’t vote in as large numbers, and of course African American women were denied their right to vote systematically.
It also folds into how temperance was addressing a real issue that alcoholic men made many women’s lives untenable, but also was rooted in religious (ok) and anti-immigrant (not ok) views on alcohol consumption.
