Weekend Plans Post: Whiplash
We had some ill-timed snowstorms over the last month or so. One happened when I was hanging out for a sleepover at my buddy’s. By the time I got home, the snow that would have been easy to sweep/shovel had hardened into something pretty immovable. The sun came out and started doing its job but then we had another snowstorm that did its best to dump all over the remainder that spent a lot of time in shadow. And it was *COLD*. Clearing the snow was bad enough that I couldn’t feel my pinkies when I was done.
The most irritating part about all this was that the snows always hit right before it was time to take the bins to the curb.
By Tuesday of this week, however, it was in the high 50s and the sidewalks were clear of those little patches of packed semi-melted/refrozen snow that you need one of those steel sidewalk scrapers to take care of.
And then, on Wednesday night, THE NIGHT BEFORE GARBAGE DAY, it snowed again. Just about an inch or so. And it was dry snow, easily swept. You didn’t need a shovel. And it wasn’t so cold that your hands hurt when you were done.
But still.
In any case, this weekend is going to be nice and warm, back in the 50’s. The streets will be clear again and we’ll just have some patches in the shadow part of the house.
Here, look at the forecast:
And looky there. Wednesday. Right before Garbage Day. More snow.
So this weekend will be spent enjoying the sun as much as we can, doing the errands that involve running around and going to the various places around town, and, of course, laundry. Oooh, and we’ve got a game night on Saturday too!
So… what’s on your docket?

Chicago has had a run of weird one day Friday cold snaps for the past few weeks. Like it’ll be in the 20s then on Saturday in the 40s.
Dinner party with some friends on Saturday, at which my efforts to introduce my new lady friend to my circle will continue.
I really should get around to putting the pulls I ordered for my kitchen drawers on.Report
This is my birthday weekend (my birthday actually falls on Monday, and like most adults, I have to work on my birthday, so I am doing something to mark it this weekend). It’s supposed to be chilly and rainy but I’m still making the hour’s drive to the nearest yarn shop to me, and probably going out to lunch, and possibly a few other places.
I admit I’d be more excited if it was going to be sunny and nice but you can’t have everythingReport
