- A Real Problem For Retail? A Shoplifting Q and A
Retail shoplifting has been a frequent topic in the news, on social media, and inspires passionate discourse. But how real is the problem?
- Falling Rocks Break Everything
Covid didn't stop us, but a closed bridge will. The other kids on this side of the border are withdrawing from the school entirely for the semester.
- Can She Do That? New Mexico Governor Suspends Gun Carry Laws
Gov. Grisham’s orders raise many questions and concerns from both sides of the aisle. The most obvious is, “Why is she doing this now?”
- 9/11 at 22: Are We Forgetting?
May the memories of the 2,977 murdered on September 11, 2001 always be for a blessing. This must never be forgotten.
- BRICS Without Mortar
Despite its recent expansion, the BRICS ‘alliance’ is nothing more than vaporware. Claims of the death of the American-led world order have been greatly exaggerated.
- Mini-Throughput: Masks, Redux
I don't like masks but the hysteria over them seems fantastically out of proportion. I'm also not sure that we need to bring back mask mandates under the present circumstances.
- POETS Day! Revisiting Clampitt with Cummings In Mind

One of the major outcomes of the 2024 election will be whether we and the West keep up the logistical support that will allow them to keep winning.
Ordinary Twitter

In “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape”, Gilbert works at a little local grocery store. There’s a great scene where he talks about the price of the pickles. He talks with the owners about the Great Big Mega Chain that moves into town that has a lobster tank as you walk in the door and all sorts of stuff. Gilbert mentions that he’d die before shopping at the Mega Chain.
Well, Gilbert’s autistic brother (played by Leo DiCaprio!) ruins a birthday party and Gilbert is tasked with picking up a pre-made birthday cake from the local Mega Chain. We see him walk through the door. We see him look at the big lobster tank right there as you walk in. We see him walk out with the cake… and we see him see that the guy who owns the little local store at which Gilbert works sees Gilbert walk out with a cake. We see Gilbert look down at the cake in his arms and start with shame and guilt.
Anyway.
Yeah. It would suck to see Otto.Report
