Weekend Plans Post: Hopping Around
A few months ago, Maribou visited her bestie on the West Coast. Then I went to Iceland. Then Maribou went back to the West Coast again.
Now she’s back. The kitties have concluded that they are not dreaming and, yes, that is really her. They’re back to knowing that she’s the one to ask for attention and I’m the one to ask for food. The laundry is sorted and ready to begin being washed come the weekend. And everything is back to normal.
After almost a month of batchin’ it, however, there’s a lot of stuff that feels weird. Like, we get in each others’ way. ALL THE TIME. Like, I grab the open bag of Smartfood that she was walking into the kitchen to get. I’m thinking “why is she coming into the kitchen the second I come in here?” and she’s thinking “why is he grabbing the popcorn the second I’m coming in here to get it?”
I was finishing up all of the non-teeth brushing nighttime bed prep and walking to the bathroom to brush my teeth and Maribou came into the bedroom at that moment and we blocked each other. She was wondering why I was trying to get in her way for using the bathroom and vice versa.
So we’re figuring out how to be roommates again. (I’m already re-learning how to make two sandwiches at once. It’s like riding a bike.)
But wait! There’s an emergency. So I have to spend the weekend at a friend’s place while the emergency sorts itself out. Offer light domestic help. Grocery runs. Amiable conversation. Disagreements on whether Garak or Quark have better episodes.
Now, after we get to the other side of the emergency, well, it’ll be time to go back to work but that should be okay. It’ll make it easier to re-learn how to roomie.
So… what’s on your docket?

Is this even a real question?
Garak. The ferengi episodes were – for the most part – some of the worst ones. Up there with holodeck malfunction episodes. Wallace Shawn’s nasally grand nagus voice, the gross out humor… Doesn’t hold a candle to Garak.Report
The Quark episodes aren’t limited to the Ferengi ones, though. They include the Quark/Odo episodes.Report
I agree that Quark-centric episodes that are not “Ferengi episodes,” are generally pretty good. The one where he and Odo go up the mountain, and the one where he loses everything and all the crew of the station bring him barware, furniture, etc. at the end, both come to mind.Report
Out riding this morning with the new gears on the bike. (1) The bigger cogs made the little climbs easier. (2) I was still getting tired faster than I thought I should, then remembered that it’s only been a few days since I donated blood. It used to take a couple of days for me to recover my stamina after a donation. Now that I am old, it takes quite a bit longer. (3) One of the voices in the back of my head says that bigger cogs is still cheating.Report
There was a situation created (but then averted).
I was asked to make a PB&J.
Like an idiot who had no idea about anything at all, I made it with toast.Report
