In keeping with my previous theme, when you’re skinning a mark, you don’t drink alcohol. Striking the ball consistently requires pulling the club face behind your back, and then swinging it through its previous position with an accuracy of about ±6 millimeters vertically, maybe double that horizontally, and with a rotational accuracy of ±5°. Very little alcohol is enough to degrade that kind of performance. (Note that people who qualify for the PGA tour are freaks who can do much better than that.)

I was always happy to let the Wednesday afternoon doctors and dentists buy me a drink after 18 holes. Never in the middle of the round.Report

I would call myself a terrible golfer but that would imply that I am a golfer of any stripe, which is probably overstating things entirely. I am a human who will occasionally play golf with friends. My form is terrible, my clubs (purchased on Craig’s List a decade ago for about $40) would embarrass most players, and I routinely shoot a 9-hole score that would be terrible over 18. But, hey, it’s fun. And, because I am for fun I usually throw a few back along the course. And, hooey, do things go from terrible to egregious after just a couple.Report
