    Even back then, a nickel wasn’t all that much money, but it could buy about half a pound of sugar, which suggests that it might go a decent way in a candy store. A bottle of Coke cost a nickel, which doesn’t sound impressive, but likely most of that was the cost of the bottle, and you could get the deposit back.Report
