I sympathize with Skinny. I had a nickname bestowed on me in high school. It was used so widely that when I went off to college, I had to re-learn to respond to Mike and Michael when people called out to me.Report

There is a kid on my team that dresses in black… head-to-toe. Like, even with a duster coat when he walks from his car to the building.

I have not called him “Hey! Undertaker!” when I needed a hand in the lab.

Partially because of the issue of how it would be wrong for me to say this.
Partially because I know that there is a possibility that this might stick and he’d be called this in a year (or more) from now.

But I have it in my back pocket despite myself.Report

(The internet isn’t clear if ‘putting on the dog’ is at all related to ‘dog and pony show’)Report
