Huh, this is about “Kelly Pool”… wait, they’re talking about pills? What’s a pill?

Oh, it’s a thing in Kelly Pool. It’s a round token “pill” or “pea”. You shake them in a bottle. Take a pill and keep it secret. You get a point for sinking your own ball.

Your opponent can, apparently, “kill” your ball and make you resign from the game by sinking it. Buying a new pill when you’re killed probably means that everybody in there only gets one pill and since Kelly pool involves going up through the numbers, the guy who has 14 or 15 is more likely to win than the schmoe stuck with 2. So when 2 gets sunk, the guy with 2 is out of the game… but maybe he can drop a dime and get a new pill.Report

A nice illustration that half the game is the BS, the psyching out, and the “gaming”

    Very nice.Report
