You should play Rimworld which is the same thing, crashlanded and trying to get off-world, except it’s about building a colony and the whole act of building (recovering) a ship can be put off as long as one likes.Report

I played a fair bit of Factorio already, and I’ve been playing Satisfactory lately, which my daughter describes as “Factorio and Minecraft had a love child in space”.

But this is clearly Factorio’s weekend, and it deserves it. It shows, for one thing, that you can make a compelling game that is completely 2D, not even isometric. The people who love it really really love it. I’m probably in that crowd.Report

I really appreciate what they’ve been able to do with such an old graphical style. Satisfactory looks interesting but the first-person perspective is a problem for me.Report

Was that ever in doubt? We had 15-20 years of 2D games before 3D became the norm, and and there are still popular 2D games coming out regularly.Report

I did a quick google and found a Youtube titled “Testing bottlenecks with 2 Rockets per minute”.

    Which is nuts.

I started playing again and the bugs killed me. Sigh. I think I have to do the tutorials again.Report

Factorio sounds interesting. I may have to add that to my “games I want to play” queue.

I’m still playing a lot of No Man’s Sky. I started a permadeath game. The initial start is the hardest, but once I found a planet that was not actively trying to kill me, it got a lot easier. I should be alright, as long as I don’t try anything stupid.

I also bought Horizon Zero Dawn, after hearing a lot of good things about it. I played a little bit, but I need to really dive into it. I’m not very good at splitting my attention between more than one game.Report
