    A couple of remarks, from the long-ago days when I played competitively:

    An opponent who is still cursing about a bad shot they have already hit is not thinking about their next shot. A judicious bit of needling will keep them thinking about that bad shot.

    Golf matches are scored in one of two ways. Stroke play, where it’s how many times you hit the ball over nine or 18 holes, is about you against the golf course. Match play, where the score is kept by holes, is about you against your opponent and has a much more significant psychological component.Report
