Well, yeah. I ended up in a profession that was seriously described as “Half of everything you know will be obsolete in ten years.” Either commit to “go to school all your life” or find a different profession. Mike the quasi-academic, even in retirement. Most of the other retired folks look at me very strangely when they ask what I’ve been up to and I tell them, “Computer vision! Having to learn a bunch of new algorithms!”
I have always been a pack rat about books. We are preparing to move into a smaller house towards the end of the summer. It pains me greatly to put textbooks into boxes to be disposed of even though they are completely obsolete.Report
