His cover of “License to Kill” gives me goosebumps. Obviously it is not an original, but he finds so much in the lyrics Dylan wrote.Report

Wildflowers also has the benefit of being one of the rare perfect albums, start to finish.

Even the outtake (Somewhere Under Heaven) is perfect.Report

The lullaby album reminds me of the modern Japanese tradition of orgel (music-box) covers of popular music. For example:

I have no idea who buys these things, but you can get them for just about any sufficiently popular musician. I guess it’s cheap to put them out because of mechanical licensing, but still, there has to be enough demand to justify making the physical CDs.Report

      • I inherited a 1905 Regina music box from my grandmother that plays 15″ steel disks. The comb is big enough that they could do fairly complicated arrangements. There used to be a guy somewhere in New England who had the musical knowledge and equipment to do music-box arrangements and punch new disks. The only requirement — besides payment, of course — was that you show him adequate licensing paperwork. I’ve occasionally wondered if Led Zeppelin would sell me a license for a one-off 60-second Regina music box disk of Stairway to Heaven.Report
