Movie Review: Colossal

Kristin Devine

Kristin has humbly retired as Ordinary Times' friendly neighborhood political whipping girl to focus on culture and gender issues. She lives in a wildlife refuge in rural Washington state with too many children and way too many animals. There's also a blog which most people would very much disapprove of https://atomicfeminist.com/

There are many ways to be a violent addict who insists that everyone be part of their addiction. Sometimes it’s physical. Sometimes it’s that person who cares, really cares so deeply about their cause that they just can’t help but get so angry over it.Report

I enjoyed Colossal and thought it should’ve gotten a bit more notice. The premise is similar to episodes of The Twilight Zone/The Outer Limits, where a human’s serious character flaw and underlying history is manifested in some bizarre and inexplicable way, but it’s more character driven and digs a little deeper into their psychology and dysfunctional relationship.Report

I vaguely remember this but I don’t think it showed up (or at least not for very long) in the theater. I would’ve gone to see it on the strength of “Timecrimes”.Report
