We’ll have to see how this goes, but even if all he does is read from his own report verbatim it can have an impact. How many folks have actually read the damn thing? I confess I haven’t; a 400+ page legal document, even one made relatively lay-friendly, exceeds my pain threshold.

There’s some disagreement out there, promulgated in no small part by Trump and Barr, over how, for instance, to interpret his declination to recommend indictment. Hearing the reasoning from the horse’s mouth could provide clarity.Report

I hope this is what the Democrats have in mind. Most of the media did little with the Muller Report, presumably because reading a report is more work than repeating people’s tweets. But having Muller read the more damning parts of his report on camera might cause some of what the US has instead of journalists pay attention for a minute.Report

This is important, especially since his main reason for having his press conference was to take issue with how Barr and Co. characterized the report. I have always read Mueller’s declination to recommend prosecution as strictly following DOJ policy and nothing more. Which, while understandable, was a sad and significant punt.Report
