Week before last I worked shifts that ended at 2 in the morning all week.
This week I worked 3 afternoon/evening shifts and 2 eight to fives.

Mostly I’m thinking about how I get to wake up whenever I want and sleep almost whenever I want for two whole days, and then go back to just working afternoon/evening without variations for a few weeks.

    Other considerations are decidedly secondary.

Though I really like when Jay goes all out at Coldstone. And I miss my nephews and my mother-in-law. (I like the rest of the family fine too, it just takes me longer to miss ’em.)Report

Here it’s Family Day, or “The Americans have Presidents’ Day, we should have a stat in February too” Day.

Daughter has a friend over for a sleepover tonight. She’s been looking forward to this for a long time.
Doctor’s appointment tomorrow for me – with luck I’ll soon be able to hear in both my ears!Report

I seem to have been hit with the creeping death that has been going around. The wife has it (coming through it now) several of her employees have, or if not them their kids. So, watching movies, drinking DayQuill and generally laying low.Report

I actually get a weekend this weekend. There is a brief respite from endless meetings (I have three next week but they are during the week.)

We don’t get Presidents’ Day off. Or rather, I guess it’s tacked on to Christmas break as a “floating holiday” so I can’t really complain about it because it’s nice not to just have the 24th and 25th off.

So I have plans. I turn 50 on the 27th, but I am teaching that day, so I can’t do anything then. And I *might* be needed for something on the 23rd (stupid office won’t get back to me about if they need me for their stupid volunteer effort, and it is NOT COOL to keep busy people who COULD make plans hanging like that).

Anyway. I am taking today as a Day Of Fun And Only Doing Things *I* Want To Do, in a premature celebration of my birthday.

In a bit, I will be leaving to (first) go to the Ulta about a half-hour away to cash in my “birthday coupon” (they do this, and yes, it gets me in the store and spending money, I don’t care) and then on to a small town about an hour from me where there is both a yarn shop and a quilt shop. I normally live pretty frugally so I can go get a bunch of cash out of my bank account a couple times a year and just buy whatever supplies/books appeal to me. And I’m going out to lunch. And to the natural-foods store; I need a few things only they carry.

Tomorrow, I may try to finish the quilt top I am currently working on; it’s getting close to done.Report
