I was fortunate to get a version of the opposite of this not too long ago. At the new doctor’s office a nurse was questioning me about being active and putting into the EMR system. I went through the bike riding, and the occasional fencing, and the ongoing landscape rebuilding that involves moving a fair amount of heavy stuff from here to there (and sometimes back). I whined a bit about being slower and having to knock off sooner from the heavy lifting than I used to. “Honey,” she said, “I see people every day younger than you that have let themselves go to the point they can’t even try things like that. You’re doing terrific.” Put a bounce back in my step :^)Report
I get a distinct autobiographical vibe from all of his comics and this one is no exception. 1875-1930.
Do we know when this one was done? If it was when he was 30ish, I’d know that he had a conversation with an acquaintance and ran with this idea… but if it were done when he were 52…Report
