Alice Marie Johnson has had her life sentence commuted by President Trump. Johnson’s reprieve comes after she has served 21 years of a life sentence, and is due in no small part to many advocates taking up her cause.
Superior Court Judge Aaron Persky became the first California judge to be recalled by voters in 86 years Tuesday. Persky, who drew controversy over his handling of the Brock Turner Rape case, had been on the bench since appointment in 2003 by then-Gov. Gray Davis.
