They’re going to steal an hour away from us again this weekend.
We go into the weekend looking forward to a relaxing and rejuvenating weekend… and they steal time from us. We wake up on Sunday thinking “oh, good! It’s X O’clock” but, no. It’s X+1 O’clock. And we know that, next, we’ll have a Monday where we wake up thinking the exact same thing. But we will have sprung forward.
How are we still doing this? It’s 2018!
Anyway, this weekend is going to be chock full of enjoyable stuff that doesn’t involve the theft of time. The theft of time, however, hovers like a miasma over everything.
It’s time, once again, for the Quarterly Birthday Celebration. We’re going over to the sister’s new house and her menu involves carbs, carbs, carbs, and carbs. So I’m bringing the coleslaw and a Tupperware with a steak in it. We got rid of mom’s 27″ CRT television and replaced it with a hand-me-down LCD television that was left over after some cascading television upgrades for Christmas and so Mom is getting a Blu-ray player for her birthday as well as a couple of her favorite movies on Blu-Ray. Brother-in-Law is getting books about basketball theory given his coaching side-job. I have *NO* idea what to get the sister. *NONE*.
So I think that means “Amazon Gift Card”. Maybe I’ll see if I can find the first season of Laverne and Shirley in a box set. She used to love that show back in 1980ish. Or Welcome Back Kotter. Hrm. Yeah. Welcome Back Kotter.
Then, on Sunday, our friends up in Denver are having their annual Pi Day celebration a hair early. They have a celebration of many, many, many, many kinds of pie. I will be bringing a couple quarts of berries and I’m debating saying something about being vegan. (They’re also doing a book exchange thing. Wrap a book. Write “Kids’ Book” on it if it happens to be a kids’ book. Leave it on the table. Take a wrapped book from the table.)
And then, before you know it, it’ll be Monday.
So… what’s on your docket?
