We’ve started having days where it has not yet hit 70 degrees. A cold front came in from over the mountains and we’ve had two of those days in a row, now. It’s going to get under 50 degrees tonight, the website says.
I’m thinking that maybe we can talk about putting the air conditioner away for the season and enjoy, once again, an open window as we fall asleep for a month or so before saying “time to bust out the flannel sheets AND SHUT THAT DARN WINDOW!!!!”
Wait, the website says that next week will have a lot of stuff in the 80’s.
Heck with that, then.
This weekend has the Annual Work Cookout happening. The loverly people I work with every day will be getting together to have a cookout on Saturday. Everybody is invited! Bring your family! Bring your besties! Bring the guy that you know from the last job you were on who you know hates his job and could be talked into getting a new one! Eat some hamburgers, brats, and potato salad! Stand awkwardly and point out that we really shouldn’t be talking about company proprietary stuff to people who don’t work for us! Stand awkwardly while people talk about college football!
I’m actually looking forward to this because I have a handful of co-workers with whom I have done non-work-related stuff and there are one or two more that I wouldn’t mind having dinner with and arguing Batman Theory with in a non-work setting.
But, man, when everybody’s there? That’s tough.
So, after we go home after scarfing down a plate or three, I’ll be able to get back into the delightful little cadence of the weekend, errands, chores, maybe a television show with the significant other on the couch.
So… what’s on your docket?
