Weekend!

Jaybird

Jaybird is Birdmojo on Xbox Live and Jaybirdmojo on Playstation's network. He's been playing consoles since the Atari 2600 and it was Zork that taught him how to touch-type. If you've got a song for Wednesday, a commercial for Saturday, a recommendation for Tuesday, an essay for Monday, or, heck, just a handful a questions, fire off an email to AskJaybird-at-gmail.com

Just want to get me and Jaybird through the next couple days with as little more barfing as possible. I am not currently barfing at all (knocks on wood) and he seems a bit better.

I am very much enjoying my 14 day weekend so far, even with the sickness and the housework. it’s very nice to go to bed having used up my reasonably available energy, instead of using more than reasonably available and thus waking up the next day starting off already in the hole…Report

It has been one of the worst weeks of my life. I am ready to see the end of 2015. It has been a very, very, very bad year.

Today, however, has been (aside from miserably hot and humid weather) pleasant so far. Today will be more difficult, as our family will gather without my grandmother for the first time in decades, but that had to happen sooner or later. She was just a few months short of 90, and what killed her was a nasty case of TB she got 60 years ago. (Lung damage. Took decades to be noticeable, but in the end….they just fell apart).Report

I’m sorry for your loss. I am glad you had all those Christmases with her.Report

      • Morat20 in reply to Chris says:

Yeah. 40 years of Christmases with her wasn’t bad. My son, her great-grandson, got 18 with her.

I was also juggling helping my brother, my mom going into the hospital the day of the funeral, and my wife’s upcoming surgery. My brother is, mostly, squared away (with bonus “Don’t dump any crap on mom and dad, come to me” conversation). My mom is back home, looking much better and frankly just needing a bit of rest to be back to healthy. My wife’s surgery is, well, at least both routine and partially carried out by a robot.

Which is not as exciting as I would have thought it would be many years ago. Now it’s just “Please be over, have gone smoothly, and found no nasty surprises that rhyme with “Lancer'”.

It has been…well, rough. I am looking forward though. My grandfather appears to be handling it as well as can be, my mother is home and better (and they scoped her heart so much we can rest assured there’s probably no dragons lurking there), and my wife’s surgery is unlikely to uncover any nasty surprises — and will prevent future ones.Report

Oh, man, I am so sorry to hear that.

I have had to say that far to many times this year…Report
