Baseball!
I am fond of noting that while I am the rare male unfortunately born without the CAS (Cares About Sports) gene, I don’t really see much difference between your average sports nerd and your average record nerd.
If one can rattle off old box scores and player-trade minutiae, the other can remember chart positions, and who got kicked out of which band when and for what.
The Baseball Project is supergroup (dream team?) featuring Mike Mills and Peter Buck (R.E.M.), Steve Wynn (Dream Syndicate et al), and Scott McCaughey (Young Fresh Fellows et al).
They have somehow made three whole albums of catchy, jangly meat-and-potatoes pop/rock tunes that are exclusively about baseball.
I imagine if you know much about the pastime’s history, traditions and ephemera, you’ll enjoy them even more than I do.

I had tickets to see these guys not too long ago, but family obligations intervened*, making this the third concert or so this year that I planned to go to, then missed.

For those of a less melodic bent here’s Puig Destroyer with 20 baseball themed songs clocking in at just under 25 minutes. Includes “No One Cares About Your Fantasy Team” and “Batflip”.

I’m not sure how I went this long without knowing about these guys. Thanks.Report
I don’t know if any of their songs’ subjects go back QUITE as far as your area of interest, but they are pretty catchy all the same.
I am sort of astounded that they’ve gotten three albums out of this, and the albums are fairly well-regarded (though that’s pretty much a murderer’s row* of 80s alt-rock players they have going there).
