VHS!

Glyph

Glyph is worse than some and better than others. He believes that life is just one damned thing after another, that only pop music can save us now, and that mercy is the mark of a great man (but he's just all right). Nothing he writes here should be taken as an indication that he knows anything about anything.

Interesting Glyph, a little too backgroundy for me, but interesting.

Have you ever checked these guys out?

What is it with hovercrafts today?

No, I never did, I vaguely thought they were some kind of second-wave trip-hop band that had collaborated with Eddie Vedder, which never enticed me into listening.

This is not what I expected at all. I like it! Reminds me of something, but I can’t figure out what.Report

Recently I scored about 60 VHS tapes from a university library that were being thrown out by the cultural studies department: Bergman, Rosselini, tons of Dreyer, Hitchcock, noir, and silent classics. I have a VHS player, but I still keep thinking whatever will I do with these movies after I watch them?Report

I enjoyed these. “Too backgroundy” actually makes it somewhat perfect for me.Report

If you dig this, you might like Pye Corner Audio. Also, Spotify has some of the John Carpenter scores that used to be really hard to get hold of, like Escape From NY and Assault on Precinct 13.Report
