Weekend!

Jaybird

Jaybird is Birdmojo on Xbox Live and Jaybirdmojo on Playstation's network. He's been playing consoles since the Atari 2600 and it was Zork that taught him how to touch-type. If you've got a song for Wednesday, a commercial for Saturday, a recommendation for Tuesday, an essay for Monday, or, heck, just a handful a questions, fire off an email to AskJaybird-at-gmail.com

I concur 100% on the productive thing. I got a tremendous amount of work done this week. Everyone is back from vacations of various lengths, well-rested, motivated, etc. The Great Big Project that is going to dominate much of our year is approaching liftoff and with everyone at full steam, stuff is finally getting done.

Dinner with friends tonight. Going to try to catch The Hobbit this weekend.

Too cold to hunt here (should be around 2 degrees with windchill tomorrow morning) so I am going to use this an excuse to go to Harbor Freight and buy lots of tools I don’t need in their latest sale. Does anyone else have one of these near them? It’s a magical place.Report

Cold, tired, and SO looking forward to our weekend. Especially the part where I get to curl up under blankets with hot tea and read, but the parts Jay mentioned will be equally lovely, I am sure.Report

We’re probably going to a dancey thing at a yoga studio tonight. Nice that it’s not at a bar, so we don’t need a babysitter. We’ll probably go to a potluck on Saturday.

I’ll also be fiddling annoyingly with my new phone, because it is so shiny.Report

      What kind of phone?Report

        A Xiaomi Mi2S.

It’s got one of these highly customized Android distros on it, rather than something close to the open source base. I’m not sure what I think of it yet.

They seem to take a very different approach to software updates from HTC and Samsung and so on – with most of the vendors you seem to buy the phone and get maybe one OS update if you’re lucky. With this one there seems to be a new build offered every week, which you can apply anytime the changelog seems compelling enough.

Interestingly, Xiaomi also offers downloads of their customized distro for other vendors’ phones.Report

Nothing big going on this weekend. Clancy and I were discussing the possibility of my dropping her off at a coffee place for her to spend a few hours to get her Out Of The House, which she seems to need.

My parents left earlier in the week, so I have a great list of things the house needs (“You don’t have any patio furniture?”, “You need more storage space because the counter is getting cluttered”, “We’ll have to talk to your aunt about you getting some more curtains.”)Report

My son and I have been bache-ing it for a week, as knittingniki’s father has had some very dire health issues. She’ll get home late Saturday evening (really, early Sunday morning), so part of the weekend will be reconnecting as a family.

Also on the docket will be the Seahawks game, some reading, and maybe a hike or two.

And maybe Sunday night I will take knittingniki out to celebrate *her* big news, which is that the MBA program she started and began developing four years ago is going to be listed as one of the top 50 programs in the upcoming US News & World Report rankings. (Which for such a new program is unheard of, so we’re pretty excited.)Report
