I’ve loved Smitten Kitchen ever since getting turned on to it years ago. Glad to know I’m not the only one!Report

Partly, it’s the comment sections, too. People are kind; they’re helpful. They share information. I love that.Report

Zic, you are right, that site has attracted a generous and kind commentariat. I remain a lurker… and don’t always read the comments, but do read them carefully before embarking on a new recipe. I also love that Deb Perelman often replies to questions in the comments section and generally seems to take an interest in where others take her recipes next.Report

If the blogs your reference are even half as engagingly written as your own guest submission is I’ll have some perennial must visits to add to my routine. Bravo.
And if the recipes are of similar quality then I will be led into a terrible (exquisite) valley of darkest temptation- coming right up on cold season too (aka eating season). For shame!Report

North, what an extraordinarily kind thing to say, my warmest thanks!! My condolences on your entrance to the valley of darkest temptation that has long entrapped the rest of us….Report

It seems worth noting (and my apologies if my weakened reading comprehension skills caused me to miss you mentioning it) that the photographs at the Smitten Kitchen blog are remarkable. I *believe* that she has a background in professional photography but even if she does not, they are of that level of quality. If you believe, as I do, that eating is as much about what we see (and touch and smell and experience) as what we put in our mouth, than her blog is quite the sensory experience.Report

Kazzy, you are absolutely correct, I did completely omit mention of the extraordinarily beautiful photographs Deb Perelman creates of her culinary adventures. I expect you are correct that the photos are an important (if subconscious) part of what keeps me coming back, an integral part of the whole sensory experience. AND, I think I’m a word-picture sort of gal…Report

The pictures had me hooked from the start. That the food tastes delicious is simply a bonus!

Great piece, by the way. Not sure I mentioned that in my fawning over Deb’s work.Report

” I really wanted to confess to you today is my OTHER favorite blog, Smitten Kitchen.”

I hate to be nitpicky, honey, but I don’t think that’s how you spell Ordinary Times.Report
