So he’s allowed to play “T” rated games and the two game systems he has are the Wii and the PS2 and I don’t know that he even turns the PS2 on anymore. So, for the Wii, I’m thinking Smash Brothers and Metroid.
Or should I shoot for the moon and go for Twilight Princess?
Or am I overlooking something really obvious and I should go and get that? Quick! Tell me!
Personally, I’ve been playing Heroes V and having an absolute blast until I hit the Necromancer level where I have to curse all of the Wizard castles. They sent down someone loaded for bear into my Castle area and knocked out Isabel. So I have to go back 3 turns or so.

I have recently been made aware that there’s a thing called Twitch, which allows people to watch other people play videogames, and that it’s wildly successful. Can someone explain to me why this isn’t the stupidest thing in the world?Report

I was never a HUGE gamer, but for the period when I did game, it was usually a social activity – me and someone else would take turns playing a FPS or “Crash Bandicoot” or whatever.
I enjoyed watching someone else play as much as I enjoyed playing. Maybe more so. I’d probably get back into it, if I had anyone to play with now.Report

and of course baseball. which is like watching other people sleep, plus millions in tax subsidies.

I don’t get it either, but then I also don’t get people watching sports either. It seems like one makes about as much sense as the other.
The one exception I have is a show like Tabletop, but they put a lot of production work into making it entertaining. Also, it’s no coincidence that most of the guests they have on the show are actors.Report
Yeah, people watch sports and those don’t even have aliens, robots or explosions; let alone alien robots exploding. If I have to watch one or the other, I know which way I’d go.Report

1. It’s just like when once every year ( or every few years) we watch a competition between
the best in the world.
2. It’s like a social thing with friends, other than not being social or with friends.Report

@mike-schilling It’s also useful for people who are good at a game, but not great, to see how those who are better do it. When I was big on World of Warcraft, videos showing how top guilds downed bosses were a handy way to learn tactics and excution for my own guild’s attempts.Report
