The weekend already?! I’m still recovering from Leaguefest, and catching up at work. I suppose I’ll devote my weekend to losing the weight I gained during my trip. šŸ™ Dang Lemon Meringue Tart really bit me in the bum, but it was sooooo yum. My assistant/amazing friend Emily is getting married on Sunday!!! šŸ™‚ She told me today that she’s pregnant. I don’t know what to do with all this great news.Report

A friends’ kid’s birthday party on Saturday, which is kind of competing with the Pride parade. Ideally we’ll be able to see the parade first. Saturday evening dinner with a friend.

Sunday I might actually make it in to volunteer at the bike workshop – it would be really nice if that works out, it’s been a while since I’ve had a Sunday free to do so.

Monday is the last of the ecstatic dance series, which really nicely leads into our music festival season.Report

I’m taking this pill for a week that wipes me out every time I take it. As such, I expect my weekend to involve a LOT of sitting quietly and dozing off (last night I was asleep by 7:30 – it’s 2:30 am right now, I’ve been awake for 15 minutes, and I’ll be asleep again by 3).

Fridays in the summer I work from 7:30-6, tomorrow is my first go at that.

Friday night is not for movies, but for sitting on the porch.

    Otherwise as Jaybird said.Report

Oh, and the new season of Orange is the New Black is out! All at once. So I’ll probably be spending a lot of time watching that.Report

“Iā€™m taking this pill for a week that wipes me out every time I take it.”

      Ah, the mythical “chill pill”.

Also, I’d think any pill that took me a whole week to take would be pretty exhausting.

      (Enjoy the sleep at least!)Report

      • Maribou in reply to Glyph says:

Working all week while taking it sucks. Then the associated sleep is … not particularly pleasant. Nightmares. Etc. But it is what it is. (And it is, of course, a series of pills, not just one. Tease.)

Gloriously, I have no plans tomorrow between morning and 5ish that require getting out of bed for more than a few minutes.

Sunday I start my three weeks of working six days a week. But at least they’ll be short days.Report

      @maribou

Yesterday, on the thread of Religion, someone made a comment about expectations of change over time. (I’ll find it if you want.)

I was thinking of responding that it depends upon the time frame (I didn’t, it was a migraine day, and hard to frame the thought properly).

But I quite liked my the idea I wanted to respond with: the time frame matters. There is a stone wall beside my house; as permanent a thing as one could hope to see for several life times; the change is the growing of trees, the shifting of frost, moss, animal tunnels; it happens around the stones placed in the wall over 200 years ago.

But the stones themselves? They were originally placed there 20,000 years ago, give or take, rubble of ground-up mountains moved there from other places by a giant glacier; some of them might have originated from Maribou’s birth place. Made me smile that you might have walked a ledgy outcrop as a child which, once upon a time, was part of the same mountain as the stone I sit on today.Report

      • Maribou in reply to zic says:

That is a fabulous and endearing thought, @zic.

Though it doesn’t change anything, I must say that we don’t really *have* ledgy outcrops in PEI, much. They tend to be muddy and sandy cliffs instead, much prone to erosion, lots of gullies with soft edges …

Still I used to think about that on the beaches, as I grew up, how all the little pebbles on the beach could’ve been part of a mountain once.Report

Catching up on sleep is the first item on the to-do list for tomorrow. I love my new position at work so far but the hours upon hours in front of the PC instead of rushing about out in the operation have already taken their toll. I am going to have to seriously dial back my bedtime. I absolutely refuse to rely on energy drinks in the afternoon like my coworkers.

UFC tomorrow night. Fairly boring card on paper but often those turn out to be the best ones. We our having an early Father’s Day on Sunday as half the family will be out of town on the actual day. Maybe I will get the water bottle I requested.

Mostly I am prepping for my sabbatical. The home office is getting a new desk and chair. I have to drop the crappy futon off at the landfill. Hoping to get the dogs out to the park. Murphy has really gotten out of shape since the latest leg injury. Hunting dogs are like old trucks. They need a little more TLC to stay on the road.

I salt-cured some egg yolks two weeks ago that should be done now. Excited to try them over some pasta tomorrow night.Report
