I wonder if that last story is the beginning of Delirium beginning to change again.Report

  2. Sooooooo many thoughts.

    1) I love the Dream story, except… I find the entire Dream/Desire falling out entirely unbelievable. I simply think it makes zero sense for Dream and Desire to be so very close, and then have those events occur the way they did. It just fails as a plausible story point.

    2) The little detail about Rao is marvelous. Juuuuuuuuuuuuuust marvelous. I am grateful to know it. Thank you.

    3) Delirium kind of got on my nerves a bit, but she annoys me far less than I’m sure much time with Delight would.

    4) In some supplemental material or another, I read a few additional thoughts from Gaiman about this story, and he mentioned that it would take a while for Death to cheer up. I’m glad she did.

    5) I don’t have the book in front of me, but I didn’t pick up that Delirium had actually been assaulted, just that she had gone to a dark place where she was hurting. What did I miss?

    6) I love Daniel.Report

I don’t know. Dream has shown himself to easily get his feelings hurt, and to hold a grudge, and to generally be a big baby at times. He is prideful, and bad at forgiving. Remember Nada?

And leave it to Neil Gaiman to be pretentious enough to weave his characters into the origin stories of some of the largest DC characters.Report

      1) It makes sense to me if this is Dream’s first love ever, and so he swung completely into Team Desire, and then when he lost her, he swung completely into Team Desire Sucks. And never went back.

      2) I love that particular origin story.

      3) I still wonder if Gaiman has gone on the record saying what he thinks Delirium’s next incarnation would be.

      4) I think Death cheers up around the time she’s forced to live a day as a mortal every hundred years. But it probably took a few millennia.Report

Delirium definitely appears to have been assaulted.

      5. There’s a panel that shows a woman being assaulted and describing how far she retreated inside, along with comments about how far Del is inside. I suppose the picture might be the other girl.Report

I just noticed that there are panels in which the paranoid looks exactly like Ignatius J. Reilly.Report
