I’ll say this much for your company: they seem pretty committed to moving people around within the company in order to find best fits, rather than automatically moving people out when a fit isn’t right. That seems like a smart approach both for preserving company-specific human capital that’s been developed, and for treating their people well and building loyalty. I’m glad to hear the new position is working out better for you these days.Report

      MD,

We have a HUGE footprint in the Louisville area, so yes, it has the benefit of giving the company options rather than letting people go. For those of us in the career it is pretty awesome because you can constantly reinvent yourself. I’ve done it at least twice and will probably get more opportunities in the future so I value that.Report

Many people would disagree with my technique but I mostly rely on letting them think they have me wrapped around their finger, while slowly re-educating them.

Makes sense to me. One of the things that makes difficult people difficult is how quick they are to decide people are their enemies. If you want to change their attitude, avoiding being placed in that box is key.Report
