Sounds fun, Tod. Great idea. But if you play that damned Christmas Shoes song, I will hunt you down and torture you into submission. (I Want a Hippopotamous for Christmas, though, will be received with joy.)

Also, your mother would have appreciated my daughter, who is waging a one-woman war on pre-Thanksgiving Christmas music.Report

So all the “joy” of being at the mall during the X-Mas season ( yeah i typed it that way on purpose, this war on X Mas don’t fight itself you know) without having to actually be around people. So i guess that is a positive.

Christmas Wrapping by the Waitresses and Fairytale of New York by The Pouges are about 80% of all the holiday songs i can stand hearing more than once every 5 years.Report

    Dear Tod,

It is like you and I are the same person, except Jay is your mother. Wait, that didn’t come out right. But I am the person with the seasonal strictly-time-limited Christmas music obsessions, and he is the one with the “No Christmas music until the day after Thanksgiving. ” rule.

(I feel a bit sorry for him, because for the first 8 years we were married, I worked in retail, and thus got more than my fill of Christmas music at work. The rule was enacted on the very first year after I switched jobs, when I gleefully said, “First of November!!! TIME FOR HOLIDAY SONGS.” and he reacted like I’d dropped the needle on a record. (In my own defense, I submit to the audience that I was laboring under a cultural disconnect, since I come from somewhere where Hallowe’en postdates Thanksgiving.))

Anyway! All of that to say, thank you so very much for doing this, and I look forward to your offerings with glee.

    Affectionately yours,

Please consider continuing through Epiphany (Jan 6).
You could shift all the We Three Kings / Magi / Little Drummer Boy items to the appropriate time.

I’m really looking forward to this!
I love Christmas songs even when they’re not about Christmas.
But, I always wait until after Thanksgiving.
