This is me and USCG Safety Inspector Giles Loftin, at the (successful) conclusion of today’s inspection. Mon Tiki is now officially a Inspected Passenger Vessel! Thanks to the Gents, writers and readers both, for your support through out this endeavor!
*A boat’s COI or a mariner’s credentials are referred to colloquially as a “ticket”. I got my ticket a few years ago. Mon Tiki got her ticket today.
Fantastic! Congrats!
Congratulations to Mon Tiki, Captain — she is now officially ready for business, and with you at her helm, may she sail peacefully, profitably, pleasurably, and often, for many years to come!
Grats! If ever I’m out in the neighborhood I’ll be booking a ride.
Congrats!
Dave, you’ve spoken quite a bit about safety on the high seas. Do you think that the inspection you received today and the general process of getting tickets for mariners and boats alike is sufficient? Sometimes I look at the ease with which I got a license at 17 and have not yet been re-evaluted since and cower in fear about just how easy it is to get on the road.
Judging from what he’s written regarding the boat, I’d hope he thinks it’s sufficient.
Now, as to those crazy-ass captains…
