Very nice, Plato. Rather persuasive in some ways.

    And this:
statistics are better than secret – they’re boring.

Thanks, I started in easy and then slowly ramped it up. Of course I really don’t want to persuade people to do this. Still, it was a fun exercise to channel that part of me for a bit.Report

According to the Religio-Patriot Quotient (or RPQ), the United States has been in decline since well into the 1970’s (with, granted, an uptick for a couple of months in the 80’s and another in the mid-90’s) but, at the rate we’re falling, we’re headed for trouble.

On the other end of the scale, the RPQ of Greece is increasing dramatically.

Shouldn’t we do something about this?Report

No, you see you’re measuring it wrong. First off, their uptick in church attendance is an impulse response to a major societal shock, not part of a long-term trend. If you look at page 37 of the methodology paper, you need to down-weight their religious activity by 90% because of this.

And the social unrest counts against the patriotism quotient , and because it’s caused by a major societal shock that increases the weight of it by 96%, as noted on page 28.

So you’ll see their RPQ has actually fallen, while the USA goes from strength to strength.Report

No one thinks telling a Nazi where the Jews are hiding is the right thing to do

There was the incident where Pia Zadora was playing Anne Frank, When the actors playing the Nazis came onstage, the entire audience yelled “She’s in the attic!”Report
