    WTF?Report

According to her Wiki, Alanis Morissette was married in 2010. If I have (again) erred in applying the appropriate honorific, I will (again) apologize and amend. Can you shed some light on your objection?Report

      • Mike Schilling in reply to Kazzy says:

Morissette is her name, not her husband’s name, so “Mrs. Morissette” is incorrect. This kind of thing is one of the reasons “Ms.” was invented.Report

        • Kazzy in reply to Mike Schilling says:

Duly noted. I thought about that for a second, actually, but not enough to actually take the time to do it right. Update coming. Thanks.Report

Now the title is fixed, but not the body. (That is, Ms. Morissette’s title in the post’s body. With the wrench.)Report

            • Kazzy in reply to Mike Schilling says:

Thanks. I had fixed that one and then in my attempts to properly enter the HTML manually in the Title field (which doesn’t just have buttons like the Body field), I lost it.

I should probably just start referring to people without honorifics. Or just resign myself to grunting and banging on the keyboard.Report

grunting and banging on the keyboard

                That’s what I do for a living.

Years ago now, when I was working at a client site, a woman who had just graduated from college was assigned to work with me so she could take over the system I was building after I was done. By the end of my tenure there, not only was she familiar with the architecture and maintenance procedures, when things went wrong she made the same annoyed noises I did.Report

“…grunting and banging on the keyboard…”

It also explains like, 45% of the music made in the 80’s.Report

This is one of the key virtues of Ms. as a title, it lets you describe a woman without needing to know her marital status.Report

It’s “ironic” that that song got as much airtime as it did.Report
