It’s the most wonderful time of the yeaaaarrrrrrrrrr…….

And I have class during the opening four hours of the tournament — I have to miss Murray State’s game!  How dare they require a Kentuckian to do such a thing!  Why, Yankees!  (Not just have class, but have to lead the class — so I can’t follow my brother’s example and just open the games on my computer for the room to see.)Report

    • In grad school, I taught a class at Michigan that went from 2 to 3 (I believe these times are right, although they may be shifted by an hour), and Michigan was playing in the Big Ten Tournament at 2:30 during one of those classes. I told my students that, pending objections, we would have 20 minutes of class and then adjourn to a bar or restaurant. There were no objections.Report

I feel your pain. My schedule is full up today until 9:30 tonight.  I really think these two days should be a national holiday.Report

    • J.L. Wall in reply to James Hanley says:

I don’t know whether this is true nationally or not, but in March in Kentucky there are suddenly radio ads recommending that men schedule vasectomies for this week, with a guarantee that the doctor will write a note letting them stay home from work the first two days of the tournament.Report

I’d be trash talking already, but I already am embarrassed and need to ask a favor of someone in the pool.  I signed up for a new yahoo account to get in, and now I can’t remember my login.  And when I go into the “forgot your login” part nothing seems to work.

Can I ask, once it’s up and running, would someone mind printing-to-pdf my bracket and emailing to me?  I can remember most of my picks, but not all – and I really want to follow along to see how I’m doing these next few days.

    Thanks in advance to anyone/everyone.Report

My bracket is, I believe it’s called, “straight chalk”.

As such, I didn’t create one. Seemed dull.

But when Kentucky takes it, I called it.Report

Should’ve played, man, even if it was straight chalk.

There’s a scenario generator on the Yahoo website. Doesn’t take much playing with it to see that if you’d have picked every higher seed, every time, you’d have 44 points going in to the Sweet Sixteen, a not very impressive tie for 23rd place out of 28 overall entries. But, you’d have been in a position to get up to 5th place going in to the Final Four, and if you had correctly picked the winner of North Carolina-Syracuse, you could have won it all, beating Mark Thompson by two points.

      Just sayin’.Report

Hah!  A third of the way, and I’m tied for 1st,* mother-fishers!!!!

So far only Christopher is double-tapped (he picked a loser as a winner and he had it going on one more round).  Everyone’s other picks were all slated to lose in the next round anyway.

    No hard advantage yet.Report
