    I don’t even have a speech!

    Um, I’ll throw something together.

Hey! Isn’t it great to be here? I mean, here at all! I can think of a thousand different times that would have resulted in me being hurt (though I wasn’t) and a dozen different time that would have resulted in me being dead (though I wasn’t… don’t think I was, anyway… that’d be a pretty good punchline, though) and now I’m here in a place where the food is plentiful and cheap, the wine is plentiful and cheaper, and the friends are plentiful and priceless.

What better way to celebrate that than examining it through a haze? Get yourselves a plate of food and a glass of something and sing a song about how rough we have it!

    Let the festivities commence!Report

St. Francesco Zappa gave us this worthy maxim, bowdlerized to LoOG standards:

It’s fishing great to be alive, ladies and gentlemen, and if you do not believe it is fishing great to be alive, you better go now, because this show will bring you down so much.Report

For Saturnalia, here is a quick recipe for a nice snack. I was hungry and experimenting…

    Mint Cashews

    Ingredients

    1 Bowl (250 ml) of Raw Cashew-nuts

1 table spoon of mint chutney/pickle (bought from the store)

    A pinch of salt.

    Instructions

    1. Microwave the cashews until brown. (If you freeze them like I do, 3 sets of 2 min each with tossing in between should do  fine)

    2. Take a table spoon of mint chutney or pickle and mix it into your bowl of cashews, until even.

    3. Add a pinch of salt.

Your mint cashews are now ready eat

(Go figure, I’m not Matha stewart. So of course I’m not going to tell you how to make your own mint chutney)
