Knowing that you will eventually have both will make this decision easier. The PS3 will tide you over longer while you wait for your 360 (it’s no longer “a 360”, it is now “your 360”) than the 360 would tide you over while you waited for your PS3.Report

Okay, good to hear. I just found myself watching trailers for Uncharted and thinking, “damnit I want to play this game.” And then I looked up a bunch of titles – Dark Souls, Skyrim, Batman Arkham City, etc. and they were all available on each console. The only thing I’ll really be missing is Halo and I think I’ll just download that onto my laptop.Report

I don’t know if it’s your style, but you should also check out Heavy Rain– it’s the reason i have a PS3 and not an XBox 360. Dark Souls is a great game if you can handle it, but I haven’t picked that up yet.Report

Erik, as a fellow parent and husband, I have to warn you that Heavy Rain lands gut-punch after gut-punch emotionally. I cried a few times, just a warning that it can be very rough. Oh, don’t read up on the game – it’s old enough that many columns will openly talk about who the origami killer is.Report

It’s not like you’re going to “lose” if you make the wrong decision. I’d recommend flower (worth the $10) and Wipeout HD on a price drop from the Playstation Network (PSN). I like Playstation Plus and you probably got a month free – themes don’t go away when the service ends so I would download the ones available for free. PSN has pretty frequent sales, keep an eye out – adding the Playstation Blog to your RSS feed will provide that info.Report

Well, if you’re not interested in the Kinect, the PS3 is certainly a better choice.

I also see that your indecision regarding choosing an ideological label for yourself also applies to picking a console. 😉Report
