Is it just me…
…or is the site not only running faster, but looks and feels pretty damn good, too?

Devcat is exploring some additional filters for moderation. This should be transparent to almost everybody.
I love Hart Crane, but in fractions. Crane, for me at least and I’m a bit slow on various uptakes, requires a different mindset.
For those disagreements, we have the judicial system and the Constitution. It works pretty well. Most of the time anyway.
And so here we are, 16 years later, a nation of 330 million people sniffing, snarking and snarling because a drug that has never demonstrated efficacy beyond placebo was foisted upon us as a replacement for a drug that actually, you know worked.
Republicans who denounced Trump’s impeachments as political have apparently decided the more the merrier as Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden
All of the nuts and bolts of the Biden-Trump polls and election aside, with more than a year to go there is a lot of water yet to pass under the bridge.
Retail shoplifting has been a frequent topic in the news, on social media, and inspires passionate discourse. But how real is the problem?
Covid didn't stop us, but a closed bridge will. The other kids on this side of the border are withdrawing from the school entirely for the semester.
Gov. Grisham’s orders raise many questions and concerns from both sides of the aisle. The most obvious is, “Why is she doing this now?”
May the memories of the 2,977 murdered on September 11, 2001 always be for a blessing. This must never be forgotten.
Despite its recent expansion, the BRICS ‘alliance’ is nothing more than vaporware. Claims of the death of the American-led world order have been greatly exaggerated.
Not bad at all.Report
I’m not terribly fond of fixed-width presentation, but I recognize its value when it’s done properly. I like the non-archived but summarized posts at the bottom of the page, and I’m glad you kept both sidebars (which is weird, since I usually abhor sidebars).
Don’t know who on the League is responsible for the presentation/back-end decision making, but I approve of the current iteration of the results.Report
Erik does all the tough behind-the-scenes work. He’s done a great job on this one.Report
I generally like the new site and layout a lot, but I’m not so down with the “archives” section with just the first few sentences of whatever of the posts from yesterday below the posts from today. I “only” get the chance to check the site out once every couple of days, so I find myself clicking on a lot of links to catch up. I would prefer a few days at least or even a week of excerpted or full entries and then either the interviews section to return or else otherwise be easy to find; i.e. be a category in itself. The wideness is great actually. I have normal vision, so I appreciate not having to move my thumbs all the time when I’m using my iPhone, and I appreciate not having to go searching for new batteries for my wireless mouse so I can read the rest of a particular article.Report
A few days of posts might drag the entire page out a really long ways. Actually I think we are able to show more posts in this format than in the previous. But maybe we could figure something else out that meets in the middle somewhere.Report
I don’t think having a (really) long front page is a detriment, especially since most posts are text only.Report

Some day I’ll get used to the fact that some people use their handheld telecommunications device as a primary interface to teh ‘webs.Report
It sure does smell alluring…or maybe that’s my wife’s cooking. Either way, a successful design.Report
It’s a transparent change.
I know that we used to have a different design… but for the life of me, this feels like the old one.
Only with some improvements that I can’t put my finger on.
Well done.Report

I’m really glad everyone likes it. And my next project is integrating better mobile support.Report
