    Ms. Sadik-Khan said a city study showed that only one in 10 people travel along 34th Street by car, including taxis; the rest walk or use mass transit. Faster buses would benefit “the majority of the people who are actually using the street,” she said.

    Before I changed jobs and moved a bit downtown, I used to walk that block of 34th Street everyday — it really is busy, and this sounds like a great plan. The sidewalks are always extremely crowded, and the traffic is always heavy. Plus, since I’m all for pedestrian areas and making transit more commuter (as opposed to driver) friendly, sounds like a good idea to me.Report
