good thing your not bitter about that.

look on the bright side the Lions entire purpose is to be the single worst franchise thus saving every other team of that ignominy.Report

Thanks. It’s good to be reminded that there’s at least one other team that’s been even more dismal than the Bills in recent years. (At least the Browns have made the playoffs this decade, and the Texans don’t count since they haven’t been around for a full decade yet.)Report

      • Chris Dierkes in reply to Mark Thompson says:

except even the Lions have won a playoff game more recently (18 years) than my lowly Bengals (19 years). I was 11 the last time the Bengals won a playoff game. We beat the Oilers if I remember correctly (take that Larison).Report

  2. Speaking as an old Oilers/Titans fan, I would remind Mark that the ending of this game was righteous payback for the humiliating collapse the Oilers experienced at the hands of the Bills years before. That play is one of my fondest football memories. For what it’s worth, I share your opinion of Phillips’ coaching.Report

  3. Re: this poll (h/t: Andrew), I say,

Here is a possible scenario: the Republicans have no love for him because ultimately he supported HRC, est. Dems might not mind him for the same reasons, but the left wing of the party are out for blood over the way HRC landed, they can’t really go after the party so they go after Joe instead, and the est. Dems let them, offering Joe up as a sacraficial lamb to appease the progressives.

The only thing that Joe has going for him is that all of this won’t go down until 2012 and everyone, not just the voting public, has a short memory. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised to see DailyKos and FDL grudges resurface in two years by way of campaigns against Leiberman.

Mark says 2012 is too far for that scenario to hold, I say that progressives may just be wiling to hold this grudge. You decide.Report

    Dude, I feel your pain!
The Stillers failed to make the playoffs…!
Now, everytime I fly into Picksburg Airport I stop for a minute at the statue of Franco Harris making the Immaculate Reception, bow my head and whisper, “Six Super Bowls, and more to come,” over and over.
    It helps.Report

OK, football is fine, but again no Sunday poem. Don’t tell me the memory of locker room aromas of Red Hot, Tuff-Skin, tape and sweat have warped you out of literary pursuits. Or is it just the memory of the aromas of spilled guacamole, chili and little smokies on a beer stained couch?Report
