I’m surprised at how many people are looking so forward to Vista SP 2, otherwise known as Windows 7. Don’t get me wrong, I think most of Vista’s problems were taken care of with SP 1, between that and the software makers fixing their software to work properly under the new security framework. XP was nice, don’t get me wrong, but it had gotten to the point where viruses were exploiting things that could not be fixed. As an admin, I almost moved to upgrade to Vista just for that reason.

As for Mac and Linux, they are tools, suited some needs more so than others.Report

This is, basically true, but there have been some major interface improvements as well. Of course, these mostly consist of ripping features off from KDE or Mac, but as long as they work…

Also my now-deceased older computer still had quite a few problems with vista sp1. my understanding based on use is that 7 is actually somewhat lighter, but I could be mistaken.Report

I could watch the first one for 2’22” before I started wanting to barf. Is that a record?

The second one reminded me that singing “I could have danced all night” with “danced” and some other words ( like “wings” and “heart”) bleeped out is rather fun.Report
