From CNN Business:
New York (CNN Business)Sheldon Adelson, the chairman and CEO of Las Vegas Sands and a major donor to Republican politicians, died late Monday following complications related to his cancer treatment, his company said. He was 87.
Adelson took a leave of absence from Sands last week to resume treatment for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, which his aides first disclosed in late February 2019.

Comment →In the wake of the violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol by scores of President Trump’s supporters, a lone researcher began an effort to catalogue the posts of social media users across Parler, a platform founded to provide conservative users a safe haven for uninhibited “free speech” — but which ultimately devolved into a hotbed of far-right conspiracy theories, unchecked racism, and death threats aimed at prominent politicians.
The researcher, who asked to be referred to by their Twitter handle, @donk_enby, began with the goal of archiving every post from January 6, the day of the Capitol riot; what she called a bevy of “very incriminating” evidence. According to the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab, among others, Parler is one of a number of apps used by the insurrections to coordinate their breach of the Capitol, in a plan to overturn the 2020 election results and keep Donald Trump in power.

After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence.https://t.co/CBpE1I6j8Y

DALLAS, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) – Chief Judge Barbara Lynn of the Northern District of Texas has reversed a previous ruling of the Court that had dismissed all claims against the City of Dallas in the murder of Botham Jean.
The federal civil rights lawsuit against the City of Dallas is now allowed to proceed once an amended lawsuit is filed.

I am reminded of what happened on Redstate when Foley was caught cybering pages.
Not because of the crime committed, of course, but because of the defenses given for the crimes committed by people who you, seriously, could never imagine saying such a thing.
The essays written about the differences between pedo and ephebo, the essays written about the loopholes in the cyberlaws in DC, the essays written about the character of the youths involved…
When, of course, it seems that a few years prior, there were a great many essays written about the appropriateness of people in power humping the help.
“It’s not that Clinton cheated that was wrong. Of course people in power put their junk in whatever. They’re used to putting their junk all over the place. It’s what makes them the type of people to run for office in the first place! The problem is that Clinton put his junk in the help. Don’t put your junk in the help. That’s what the trophy wives of the senators are for.”
That sort of thing. And, of course, Foley gets caught and we’re reading essays about the age of consent in the district where the chat took place.
It’s enough to make a guy say “you people” without irony.Report
Well, RedState, geez. That’s what they do. Read the threads there discussing the Ben Domenech plagiarism scandal as it was breaking. The vast majority of posts echo every one of his half-truths and rationalizations and call anyone who faced the facts a traitor, a troll, or worst of all, a liberal.Report
I think that that was around the time that cracks in the Permanent Republican Majority were showing up and, as such, anyone who was attacking Republicans rather than attacking those who were attacking Republicans were not being helpful and were, indeed, giving aid and comfort to people, let’s face it, who saw nothing wrong with this sort of thing and only opposed it because it was a Republican who was doing it.Report
