      Yeah. Had it not been for Donovan’s goal, I probably would have written more about the beauty of Spector’s magnificent targeting of Dempsey, with Dempsey’s composed finish.

      At a very minimum, though, these last few games have me absurdly excited about the rest of qualifying and, especially, next summer. Hopefully, they’ll be enough to get the US a protected seed instead of getting screwed by a formula change like they did last time. It’d be nice if they didn’t have to worry about facing the likes of Brazil, Italy, Spain, et al in the first round.Report

  2. As well as Dempsey played the last three games, Donovan was nothing short of superb. Hopefully, Donovan’s widely-expected return to the European leagues this fall will succeed in a way that his previous adventures in Germany did not.

    Donovan never wanted to go the first time. I remember reading an article about him where he was more comfortable chilling in Southern California. I won’t say he was lazy. Just that he didn’t seem up for the better competition Europe offered(for a variety of reasons). Maybe this time will be different.Report
